While we always prefer to preserve natural teeth, there are situations where extraction is the best option for your long-term oral health. This includes severely decayed or damaged teeth that cannot be restored, overcrowded teeth in preparation for orthodontic treatment, impacted wisdom teeth, or teeth with advanced gum disease.
At Smileworks Dental, we perform extractions with the utmost care and skill to minimize discomfort and ensure a smooth recovery. We use effective local anesthesia and, when appropriate, sedation options to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.

Aftercare & Recovery
After an extraction, we will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions to promote healing and prevent complications such as dry socket. Most patients recover comfortably within a few days by following our aftercare guidelines.
Key aftercare steps include biting on gauze to control initial bleeding, avoiding smoking and drinking through straws for the first 24-48 hours, eating soft foods, and gently rinsing with warm salt water after the first day.
